Pet Loss and Pet Bereavement Support

ALLY® Support service - STANDING BY YOU

The loss of a much loved pet can have a devastating effect on your life in various ways. Feelings of intense grief, loneliness and bewilderment may even affect your health and wellbeing.

ALLY® attends to your needs during this difficult time by offering a unique support service to acknowledge your loss fully.

ALLY® is working in partnership with progressive community services (including veterinary practices, animal rescue centres and health/support agencies) across the South-West of the country by training their staff to bring you this support.

ALLY ®Support for You at The National Animal Welfare Trust

The National Animal Trust at Hayle, Cornwall, was the first rescue centre in the UK to have membership with ALLY® and to recognise the value of this concept for their clients. Members of staff from our branches in Essex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Somerset have also undertaken the training course and the scheme is now on offer at each of NAWT's five rehoming centres.

Individually selected members of staff have completed the accredited ALLY® training course to become registered ALLY® supporters. Complementing the existing care already provided at the rescue centre they will focus on helping you prepare, manage and adjust to the loss of your animal.

This may be when your animal has…

  • to be given up… for whatever reason
  • been lost or stolen
  • died, suddenly or from a terminal illness
