Meet Barley (& Slate)!

Hi... we’re Barely and Slate.

We’re not the type to rush up and demand attention (at least not right away). We prefer a softer approach... a slow blink from across the room, a cautious little step forward, and then, when we feel safe, the biggest, warmest cuddle you could imagine.

We came into rescue with our siblings after our previous humans could no longer look after us. It was a big change, and we’ve been taking things at our own pace ever since. The good news? We’ve got each other, and that makes everything a little less scary.

We’re about 9 months old, which means we’ve grown out of the tiny kitten chaos (mostly...) but still have plenty of playful energy. We love batting toys across the floor, having the occasional zoomie, and then settling down together in our favourite cosy bed for a proper snooze. If there’s a soft blanket involved, even better.

We are incredibly sweet and very cuddly once we trust you. And that’s the important bit, we can be a little shy at first. New places and new people take a bit of getting used to, but with a patient, kind human, our personalities really start to shine. When that happens, you’ll see our playful, affectionate, slightly silly sides come out in full force.

We’ll need a calm, understanding home with someone who has the time and patience to help us build our confidence. In return, we promise the kind of bond that feels really special, the kind you earn, not rush.

We’re also a perfectly matched pair: built-in best friends, expert snugglers, and occasional midnight adventurers. Whether we’re curled up together or quietly exploring, we do life side by side.
