Meet Hector!
Hey everyone, my name is Hector and I literally can not wait to find my new home.....so blink and you might miss me as I'm that fast!
I am a typical young little Spaniel who is full of fun and energy and doesn't sit still for long. so I am going to need a family who can cope with that level of activity. I love to spend my days out in the great outdoors, running, sniffing and splashing in every bit of water that I come across so you will need a good pair of wellies if you and I are going to be friends!
Initially I can be nervous and unsure of new people and places and will crawl on the floor with my tail tucked under. So I am going to need patient new owners who will be mindful of this and let me build my confidence nice and slowly and not throw me in the deep end with situations that will be too overwhelming for me. Loud bangs or unexpected noises scare me, so a peaceful home would be nice for me and I may need some help with my toilet training as I get settled in.
I have great recall skills and will stay nice and close to my handler especially if we are having a game of retrieve, but my lead walking will need lots of work I'm afraid as I am just so excited to get going.....saying this I am a very clever little spaniel and love my food, so training with treat rewards is becoming my new favourite thing....balls are my original number one, but the team here are limiting how much time I have with them as being that ball obsessed isn't great. Talking about food.....I came into the centre very underweight, so they are building me up nice and gently but I may be a bit of a scavenge in the home. I have a brilliant Spaniel nose and it never stops sniffing....I think I would love to get involved with scent work or the like when I grow up!
I have come from a home with young children and another dog so could live with them again, in fact I think I would like that, but it would need to be a kind, gentle and calm type dog that isn't going to worry me, and I may be able to also live with a cat. So come on....what are you waiting for!!
Love Hector xx
