Remember A Charity Week 2026 - Your Support Matters
This Remember a Charity Week, discover how leaving a gift in your Will could help give animals a second chance for generations to come.
Every year, thousands of animals need the help of rescue and rehoming charities. At National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), we work to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals who have nowhere else to turn and the support of our incredible community makes this possible.
During Remember a Charity Week 2026, we’re highlighting one of the most lasting ways you can support animal welfare: leaving a gift to an animal charity in your Will.
Why your support matters
Every animal who comes through our doors has their own story. Some have been abandoned, some have been found as strays, while others have sadly been given up because their owners can no longer care for them.
Whatever their circumstances, we believe every animal deserves kindness, care and the chance to find a loving home.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, in the last financial year we were able to rehome 1,387 animals, helping them move on to happier futures.
But caring for animals in need takes more than simply finding them a new home. We provide food, veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, enrichment and a safe place to stay while they wait for their forever family.
Your support helps us be there for animals when they need us most.
Thanks to legacies, we were able to give Meatball the new start he deserves
What is Remember a Charity Week?
Remember A Charity Week is an annual campaign that encourages people to think about the causes that matter to them and consider leaving a gift to charity in their Will.
For many people, making or updating a Will is an important opportunity to make sure the people and causes they care about are looked after in the future.
A gift in your Will to National Animal Welfare Trustcould help us continue rescuing and caring for animals for many years to come.
It could help provide a safe place for an animal who has yet to be rescued, veterinary treatment for an animal who needs it, or the care and support needed to help another find their forever home.
Leave a lasting legacy for animals
There are lots of ways to support animal welfare during your lifetime from adopting or fostering an animal, volunteering and donating, to shopping in our charity shops and supporting our fundraising events.
But a gift in your Will to an animal charity can create a lasting legacy that continues long into the future.
You don't have to leave a large gift to make a difference. Every gift, whatever its size, can help us continue our work and plan for the future.
And if you already have a Will, adding a gift to charity doesn't necessarily mean you need to start again. It may be possible to update your wishes, depending on your circumstances.

Your Will could help an animal's future
We never know which animal will need our help next.
It could be a frightened dog waiting for someone to believe in them. A cat who needs veterinary treatment before they can find a home. Or an animal who has been overlooked and simply needs a little more time, patience and care.
By leaving a gift in your Will to NAWT, you could help make sure that when animals need us in the future, we're there for them.
Your legacy could help provide shelter, care, veterinary treatment and the chance of a loving forever home.
Because your support today can change an animal's tomorrow.
This Remember a Charity Week 2026, take a moment to think about the causes that matter most to you and the legacy you would like to leave.
