Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Fundraising for NAWT
Are you working towards your Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and looking for a meaningful way to support a charity?
At the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), we’re always inspired by the dedication and commitment shown by DofE participants. While we’re unable to accept volunteers under the age of 16, you can still make a real difference by choosing to complete a Duke of Edinburgh fundraising challenge in support of homeless animals in our care.
A sponsored challenge is a fantastic way to meet your DofE goals while developing confidence, resilience and new skills. We would just recommend checking with your DofE supervisor first.
Bronze DofE Fundraising Ideas
If you’re completing your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, your challenge might focus on building consistency and confidence over a set period of time.
You could:
Walk or run a set distance each week for a month
Complete 10,000 steps a day for 30 days
Swim a set number of lengths every week
Take on a 30-day fitness challenge
Develop a skill, such as baking, art, photography or music and showcase your progress at the end
Bronze DofE fundraising is all about setting achievable goals and sticking to them and every pound raised helps animals in need.
Silver DofE Fundraising Ideas
For those completing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, you may want to push yourself a little further with a more demanding challenge.
Ideas include:
Training for and completing a 5K or 10K event
Cycling a longer distance over 6–8 weeks
Hiking a well-known local landmark
Completing a 6-week strength or endurance programme
Hosting a larger fundraising event at the end of your challenge
Silver DofE participants often choose challenges that test stamina and commitment making your fundraising achievement even more impactful.

You might consider:
Completing a half marathon or endurance event
Organising a large-scale sponsored event in your community
