The National Animal Welfare Trust's Somerset centre, based in Langport, has the enourmous task of raising funds to renovate delapidated kennels.
The existing kennels, which include converted pig pens, are small, dark and so close to one another and walkways that many of the dogs experience heightened stress levels. The centre has had new kennel plans in place for a while but the developments are costly and although they have received generous support from donators, there is still a long way to go.
The campaign received a huge boost last year when NAWT was awarded a £50,000 grant from Support Adoption for Pets. Work is underway to renovate one of the kennel blocks using this donation.
The appeal continues to go from strength to strength with the total currently approaching £70,000! This amount includes the Support Adoption for Pets grant, generous donations from the public, centre fundraising as well as £4,000 raised by the centre's local supporter group who have spent the past year baking cakes, growing and selling plants, hosting events and attending local fairs to raise the money and we'd like to thank everyone for their dedicated support.
