Hello, our names are Tinker and Belle and we are two 6-year-old Shetland mares. I am a beautiful chestnut colour and my best friend Belle is skewbald in colour. Sadly, our previous owner could no longer keep us so we are now looking for a new home. We are both 8hh.
We are friendly girls who would love to find a new home together as we really do love each other’s company. I am quite forward and will come for a fuss but Belle can be a little shyer than myself and will enjoy fuss only on her terms. One thing we both have in common though is our love of food! We definitely follow our bellies and we live for titbits!
When we first arrived at the centre, we were a little under socialised and preferred to be left alone out in the paddock. But, with a little bit of time, patience and gentle handling we are now happy being around the yard and have found our manners again. We don't even mind having our feet trimmed or our teeth looked at if it means we can have a groom and be pampered, which we both love!
Our ideal home will be with a knowledgeable person who is confident when handling horses, as we are definitely not for a novice. It is important for us to keep a regular routine to keep our manners in check and we certainly expect daily handling and pampering!
We have not been ridden before but we have been told we would do very well in in-hand shows, so we definitely think we could give that a go!
We could possibly be companions for other ponies, although we can be quite bossy (especially Belle) so we would have to be compatible. We are also on limited grass at the moment and like with most Shetlands, this will need to be monitored in the spring and summer.
If you think we're your kind of girls, please contact the centre!
