Please meet Derek!
Derek is a two and a half year old crossbreed. He came into our care due to his behaviour around the child in his previous home.
Derek is a very energetic, excitable, friendly boy. He is happy to meet new people and seems to enjoy the attention he gets from the staff and volunteers here at the centre. He is an affectionate boy who will lean into you for more fuss.
Derek loves to go on walks and hopes his new owners can take him on lots of long and exciting walks. Derek will pull on the lead and can be strong, he has started some lead walk training but this will need to be continued in his new home with his new owners.
Derek loves to play! He loves all types of toys but his favourites seem to be tennis balls, he loves playing fetch and is very good at bringing the ball back to trade it for another. He hopes his new owners will provide him with lots of fun toys in his new home.
Derek has some guarding issues around food and sometimes toys. Derek speaks loudly through his body language when he is guarding something, he will need an owner who can read dog body language and knows how to react to it. Derek has bitten in his previous home due to his guarding issues.
Derek would like to live in a home with experienced adults and no other dogs. Derek did live with a cat in his previous home so he could live a cat who is used to living with dogs in his new home.
