Please meet Keith, (Currently in a foster home)
Keith is a 16 month old crossbreed who was originally adopted from abroad, he has come into our care to find a new home due to his previous owner expecting a baby. Keith is currently in a foster home while he waits to find his forever home.
Keith is a calm, affectionate boy with the people he knows well, he likes to sit on the sofa with his foster carer and rest his head on them. He loves to be made a fuss of and loves to be brushed. However Keith was known to be very protective of his previous home and now he is protective of his foster home. He will bark and growl if anyone knocks on the door, he also needs to be restrained when visitors enter the home until he calms down and gets used to them being there. Keith is looking for an owner who has experience with protective dogs like this, someone who would be willing to work with him to help him overcome this behaviour.
Keith will often sniff and greet other dogs out on walks with no problems but he can become wary sometimes, he needs more practise with dog socialisation in his new home to help him become more comfortable. He will also become wary of other animals he sees out and about such as deer, squirrels and birds, and he can easily becomes spooked by unusual noises and sudden movements. He would like an owner who will help him build his confidence and show him that not everything is so scary.
Keith is an active dog who loves to go out on walks, he walks well on his lead but if he sees something he wants to get to he will pull and can be very strong. He loves to play with squeaky toys and bones. He would like an owner who is around most of the day to provide him with lots of fun and exciting walks and to keep him company.
If you could offer Keith the loving home he is looking for, please contact reception.
