Hello, my name is Buddy and I am a 5 year old Boxer. I am seeking a special home with an experienced dog owner.
Since arriving here at Trindledown the team have been working hard to socialise me with people, this is something I really struggle with and can react in fearful situations and become quite defensive which has led me to bite on a couple of occasions.
I would need an owner who has managed large reactive/ fearful dogs previously. The great news is once I am comfortable around you we will be the best of friends and cuddles are certainly a must! I really do have a wonderful personality once you get to know me, the staff tell me I have a lot of fans around here.
As you may know Boxers are a strong, intelligent breed who need plenty of mental stimulation as well as exercise. My exercise time is my favourite time of the day, chasing a ball in the big dog run is just the best. The staff tell me I have great focus and I really do enjoy my training. This is something my new owner will need to continue.
At the centre I have a wonderful play buddy who enjoys playing off lead with me, charging around chasing our toys. On our first introduction she stayed very quiet which meant I could greet her calmly and quietly, we soon hit it off. When meeting dogs out and about I can react if they bark at me, I then become quite strong and a handful to manage. My new owner will need to be used to handling strong reactive dogs. The staff are continuing to work with me on this.
Due to my reactivity my new home needs to be Adult only, with no visiting children. It would be great if we could find a home with a quiet, confident female dog with similar energy levels to really boost my confidence in and out of the home.
Do you have that extra special home for me.
