Hi everyone, my name's Holmes and I'm a 3 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I'm looking for kind new owners who have experience owning my breed and lots of time and patience to devote to me. I'm a very sensitive young man in many aspects and can get worried very easily so I'd really like a quiet, settled home environment where my new humans can help me grow in confidence. I'm told that when it comes to playtime my staffie traits really come out, I love to play but forget my manners and get over the top very quickly, my friends say that although I don't mean any harm I am very strong and use my mouth a little bit too hard, so for this reason I will be looking for an adult home or a home with children over 15yrs of age who are used to my breed and our traits. It's important my new owners understand not to encourage me to get over excited and are able to work on calm handling to prevent unwanted behaviours arising. Once I have built up a bond with someone I'm an extremely loving and loyal young boy, I'll no doubt bond very strongly with my new humans so I'd really like to not be left too long on my own as this tends to upset me. I have been introduced to quite a few other dogs since I arrived at the centre and enjoy the company of most of them on my walks, however if other dogs are too boisterous or playful it does scare me, but my friends think I could possibly share my new home with a calm female - this would be dependent on a large amount of satisfactory meets at the centre and in the home environment. I have previously lived with a cat so this is also a possibility but my friends would bring me to the home just to check I wouldn't be too boisterous.
