Hi there, my name's Lexi and I'm a beautiful young Lurcher. I'm looking for new owners who have experience owning nervous rescue dogs. Sadly, I've shown a lot of fear around new people since arriving at the centre - my friends are working with me daily to help me feel more at ease around strangers and I now go for walks with some of our lovely volunteers who give me nice tasty treats for being such a good girl. It's important any potential new owners understand that it may take me time to build a bond with them and lots of visits, patience and a gentle approach will be needed before I feel comfortable being handled.Once I get to know someone I'm very sweet and loyal, and always put a smile on my friends faces with my cheeky ways.
I love the company of other dogs and it would be great if I had a well-adjusted dog in my new home to help give me a little more confidence in new situations, I'm a big girl and very playful so would be best suited to living with a dog of similar size and energy levels.
I have lots to learn but I've been responding very well to the positive reward-based training I've started here with my friends and it's vital my new owners can continue this training in my new home and give me lots of positive experiences. I'm still just a very big puppy really and need to be shown that things aren't scary and be allowed to enjoy being a young dog learning all about the world.
Unfortunately, I get very uncomfortable around children so it's essential that I have an adult only home with no visiting children. I would prefer a quiet household with minimal visitors where I can get the best out of my fresh start.
With the right guidance and patience, my friends think I have the potential to be a great companion, they say all the right foundations are there, what I'm lacking is that special someone to devote their time and love to me.
