Hi there, my name's Lexi and I'm a year old Lurcher. I'm looking for new owners who have experience owning nervous rescue dogs. Unfortunately I've shown a lot of fear around new people since arriving at the centre - my friends are working with me to help me feel more at ease around strangers but it's important any potential new owners understand that it may take me time to build a bond with them and lots of visits, patience and a gentle approach will be needed before I feel comfortable being handled. I love the company of other dogs and it would be great if I had a well adjusted dog in my new home to help give me a little more confidence in new situations, I'm a big girl and very playful so would be best suited to living with a dog of similar size and energy levels. I have lots to learn but I've been responding very well to the positive reward based training I've started here with my friends and it's vital my new owners can continue this training in my new home and give me lots of positive experiences. Unfortunately I get very uncomfortable around children so it's vital that I have an adult only home with no visiting children. I would prefer a quiet household with minimal visitors where I can get the best out of my fresh start. With the right guidance and plenty of time, love and patience my friends think I have the potential to be a great companion.
