Hi everyone, my name's Xena, I'm a beautiful Collie mix of around 8 years of age. Some of you may recognise me, as I have been at the centre for a few years now, patiently waiting for my turn to find that perfect home.
I originally came to the centre as a stray, so nothing was known about my start to life, but it quickly became clear to all my handlers that although I show no physical scars, I am covered in mental ones.
I am looking for a very specific, collie experienced home and a new owner/s with a lot of PATIENCE. I'd love a home that has lots of land - my friends think something like a small holding would suit me, it's very important to me that I am allowed my FREEDOM - somewhere I can relax and feel at ease to do things at my own pace.
Nobody knows what I endured in my past, but it has sadly made me extremely fearful, it's important my new owner/s understand that I'm not a dog that is going to snuggle up on the sofa with you, I am very worried about being touched and although I now have a good relationship with my handlers here, this has taken years of patience and building a strong foundation of trust.
My friends keep telling me that my special someone is out there, that perfect someone that will understand my issues, give me the time and patience I need, and the second chance I very much deserve and most importantly someone who will play ball with me - I should mention that I LOVE TO PLAY BALL!
Due to the large amount of visits to the centre and prospective home visits required by any potential owner, Xena is unable to be rehomed out of Cornwall.
