Hi, my name is Ducky and I'm a handsome 1 year old cocker x springer spaniel. I came into the centre because my owners didn't have enough time for me.
I'm a typical young spaniel and my carers have described me as extremely high energy! I can be quite nervous when I first meet new people, so need gentle introductions. Once familiar with someone I get very excited to see them, sometimes a little over excited, but this is something I'm working on! I love my toys and could play for hours!
When walking out and about I'm generally friendly around other dogs that I meet. I have, however, been told I'm a bit too much for some so I need a new owner that is willing to continue my ongoing socialisation training around other dogs. I'm very enthusiastic on the lead too so will need someone strong enough to hold me, and who has the patience to continue to teach me how to be calm whilst walking.
My ideal home is an adult only home with new owners that have the experience to be able to show me that the world isn't all that scary. They need to be active in order to be able to keep up with me and be around for the majority of the day. I'm not used to being left and I can find being on my own makes me quite anxious. I could possibly live with another dog depending on how we got on here at the centre first. They'd need to be confident enough to be around a bouncy spaniel! I could possibly live with a cat, but this would need further testing here at the centre first.
