Meet Winnie!

Hello there, my name is Winnie and I am a 1-year-old Whippet x Terrier. I am a small girl with a big personality, and I can't wait to find a new home!

When I first meet new people I can be a bit shy and reserved, but as soon as I know that they can be trusted, I get excited and jump all around the place! I came into the centre due to me having some separation anxiety issues, which meant that I was becoming destructive when I was left alone for too long. I do need lots of stimulation in my home, so that I don't get bored and resort to being destructive.

I can live with older children that can get to know me and earn my trust by being calm and patient with me. I have lived with children before, so it would be nice to have some human playmates again! I have also lived with another dog and a cat, so I could do this again as long as we were introduced slowly and carefully.

As I mentioned, I struggle with being left on my own for long periods, so I am looking for a home where there is someone around all of the time that can slowly teach me how to cope with being alone. It is important that all of my training is done using kind and reward-based methods, as punishments and shouting don't teach me anything, they just make me scared of the people I am meant to trust!
