Meet Barney!

Hello everyone! My name is Barney, and I am a 7-month-old Staffie cross that is looking for a new home.

I am a very big and strong boy, and I am still growing! I am looking for a home that is experienced with big and strong breeds, as I need lots of training with kind, reward-based methods to make sure that I can walk nicely on a lead and be a respectable member of society...instead of the teenage tearaway I am currently! I am a typical adolescent puppy that needs boundaries and clear instructions on what to do, instead of being told that I have done the wrong thing - that is just confusing for me! I have a lot of energy to burn, so I will need several walks a day that are focused on my training, with a nice run around at the end as a reward for being a good boy! I will need a home with a large, secure garden, and a flat wouldn't be suitable for me.

I need an adult only home that can handle me and carry out the training that I need. All adults will need to be steady on their feet, as I could easily knock someone over by accident. I would really like to live with another dog, as long as we got on during visits to the centre and at a home visit. I play with other dogs really nicely, and they would set a great example of how I should behave. I can't live with cats as I have tried to chase them before.

I am not used to being left on my own, so I will need there to be someone around all of the time whilst I settle in, that can teach me how to cope with being left on my own using slow and kind methods. I have been spending a couple of hours in my crate and I settle in there well, so having one in my new home would be great! I have been doing great with toilet training, but I may need a refresher when I move into my new home.
