The National Animal Welfare Trust have launched an appeal for donations to help build new training rooms and purchase equipment as part of our innovative Open Paw programme.
NAWT are the first UK rehoming charity to implement the programme, which aims to provide dogs with the enrichment, training and social skills they need to appeal to new owners and to successfully settle into life outside of a kennel environment.
Following a successful pilot scheme at our Hertfordshire centre, which saw great results in the behaviour of our dogs very quickly, we're pleased to announce that the Open Paw programme is now being rolled out to our Somerset and Cornwall branches and is due to reach our Clacton centre early next year.
During the pilot, dogs that weren't part of the project continued to jump and bark as people passed, while the Open Paw dogs remained calm; at the front of their kennel looking forward to the next visitor, or relaxing on their bed.
This is a costly project that requires new training rooms and equipment in order to see the greatest results. If you would like to make a donation towards our Open Paw appeal and help provide the dogs in our care with the skills they’ll need in their forever homes, please visit our JustGiving page.
Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
