Each year UK pet food company, Burns Pet Nutrition offers one animal welfare charity an incredible support package to help them achieve their goals.
Burns are delighted to announce that animal rescue and re-homing charity National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) has been chosen as their Charity of the Year 2017.
Burns will work closely with NAWT over the next 12 months, offering an annual supply of food for the cats and dogs cared for at NAWT as well as hay for the rabbits. The two organisations will also be collaborating on joint fundraising and promotional opportunities throughout the year.
Commenting on the news, the charity’s CEO Clare Williams said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the announcement. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been selected as the Burns Charity of the Year and are very excited about working with the whole team. It will really help us to reach more people and tell them about our vital work supporting homeless pets and promoting responsible pet ownership.”
Veterinary Surgeon, John Burns launched Burns Pet Nutrition in 1993 after seeing the same pet health ailments occur repeatedly at his practice. Research indicated that a poor quality diet was to blame so John created nutritious products which enable the body to function naturally.
23 years on, Burns is a thriving business that offers an array of award-winning natural products for cats, dogs and rabbits. The Charity of the Year is part of the on-going Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation – an altruistic programme which aims to serve the local and wider community.
Commenting on the decision to choose NAWT as Charity of the Year, John said: “There are so many charities out there doing wonderful things for animal welfare so it was a very hard choice. What appealed to us was The National Animal Welfare Trust’s dedication to animal welfare, particularly through its ground breaking Open Paw programme.”
