Beat the January blues and volunteer with animals

Are you prepared for another Blue Monday to sweep the nation as 'the most depressing day of the year'?

Monday, January 21, (or the third Monday of the month), has been dubbed ‘Blue Monday’ after a US survey revealed it was the saddest day of the year.

To blow off those January blues, we are asking people to consider signing up to volunteer with homeless animals!

Jackie de Friez, centre manager of NAWT Watford said: “Spending time with pets can have many health benefits.

“They offer unconditional love, companionship and can help ease the feeling of loneliness.

“Here at NAWT, we understand that not everyone is in a position to take a pet home, but why not volunteer at one of our six centres and spend time with an animal?

“We have lots of dogs and cats who will put a smile on anyone’s face this Blue Monday.”

We’ll be escaping the January blues in just over two weeks’ time – will you join us?

Dear Sir / Ma'am , I am contacting you to see if it would be possible for me to complete work experience at The watford branch of your animal rescue. The dates I am looking for would be 29/4/2019 to 17/5/2019. Currently, I am 16 but I will be 17 before the work experience begins. I am a hard-working student, working towards a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management at Berkshire College of Agriculture. This course offers theory lessons as well as access to work 'hands-on' with a variety of animals, including snakes, lizards, frogs, meerkats, otters, primates, goats, sheep, pigs, small mammals and dogs. I work well in a team, but can also work independently if required. Hannah Walker
