For our #CLAWGUST campaign, we have invited cat owners to tell us their re-homing stories.

To spread awareness and celebrate our beautiful rescue cats, we’re going to bring you a weekly success story!

This week we hear from Sophie, who adopted her gorgeous black and white cat Harry last year.

Sophie and her parents rescued two cats from NAWT Hertfordshire when she was a child in 1994, so when she decided to get her own, she came back to us!

Rehoming moments captured at NAWT’s Hertfordshire rescue centre will soon form the stories shown in Petplan’s new advert for their sponsorship of Channel 4’s new show Animal Rescue Live: Supervet Special.

Two film crews spent the day capturing heartwarming moments of pets being taken home for the first time by their new owners.

The National Animal Welfare Trust has welcomed comments from Conservative MP Michael Gove, calling for tougher sanctions for animal cruelty.

Mr Gove, now Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, raised the issue in the House of Commons last week, stating a change in the law is needed.

Innocent animals continue to be abused in full knowledge that the courts can only issue a maximum penalty of six months behind bars.

Our amazing Somerset centre in Heavens Gate Farm has been awarded £536.61 from Pets at Home.

NAWT Somerset were partnered with the Pets at Home Taunton and Bridgwater stores for 2017 earlier thi year.

Staff and volunteers alike have spent time at the stores, raising funds and awareness about NAWT and the work we do.

Last month, Pets at Home ran a 'Support Adoption for Pets' fundraising drive, and a huge 50 per cent of the money raised is kindly being donated to our Somerset centre.
