Week 2: Virtual Events at your local NAWT

As we enter week three of lockdown at NAWT, the teams in our rehoming centres are hard at work not just keeping things fun and interesting for the animals, but also trying to create exciting and inventive ways to keep in touch with you, our wonderful supporters!

So here’s the 2nd instalment of your weekly roundup, keeping you updated on all the ways you can stay in touch with your local NAWT and join in the virtual fun.

The 10 categories are:

  10. Christmas

It is £1 to enter each picture, paid via PayPal: cornwallreception@nawt.org.uk

The winner of each category will be announced on Monday 20th April! Voting will then begin for Best in Show, which will be announced on Friday 24th April.

NAWT Clacton

The team in Clacton are launching ‘Match the Mutt’ on their Facebook page next week. This is an online competition that features 35 different breeds to match. It’s simple and fun to play and only costs the price of a coffee! Every entry will be helping homeless cats and dogs at the centre through the Coronavirus pandemic, whilst all re-homing is on hold.

Also, for a bit of fun over Easter, the team will be treating the dogs and cats to a pet-friendly Easter Egg Hunt. Keep a close watch on their Facebook page to join in on all the fun, with an extra challenge for supporters to spot the Bunny!

NAWT Berkshire

The team on Trindledown Farm will be hosting exclusive online Q&A sessions with some local experts. Be quick – spaces are limited for this unique opportunity to ask the experts your questions.

Places on each session are limited to just 15 guests and cost £10 each. For more details and how to book your spot, click here.

NAWT Hertfordshire

The team at our Watford centre are hosting an Online Pet Photo competition throughout April and want to see your pets in their forever home!

Enter a photo of your pet in to one of the below categories for a chance to win a rosette, certificate and a year’s sponsorships of a kennel or cattery worth £60.

Categories:

  • Forever Friends
  • Caught in the Act
  • Best Hide and Seek
  • Out and About
  • Dinner Time
  • What a poser

Keep an eye out for your entry on NAWT Hertfordshire's Facebook page, and remember to like and share it!

One winner from each category will be announced by Friday 1st May 2020.

NAWT Bedfordshire

The team at HULA are hoping to remind all the animals in their care that so many of you are thinking of them and can’t wait to visit them again once the gates re-open. To help with this they are appealing for a gift for an animal in their care from their Amazon Wish List.

Photos of the animals with their gifts are regularly posted on the HULA Facebook page along with an enormous ‘thank you’ to the donor.

Take on your own Spring Marathon

With so many challenge events for 2020 sadly having to cancel, the team at MyRace have kindly created a virtual marathon that will support the animals at NAWT.

The 26.2 mile challenge can be completed at any location or any time that suits you. It doesn’t all have to be completed at once and it offers the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, whilst still adhering to current government guidelines surrounding daily exercise.

The ‘Stay Puffed’ event supporting NAWT is just £14 to enter and £5 of that fee will be donated directly to the animals in our care.

To take part, simply register here and then run your race and upload a photo of your achievement, such as a screen shot from a running app.

Once your challenge is complete, you will be rewarded with a goody bag that includes a high quality bespoke medal as a memento of your achievement!

We hope that you and your family are staying safe and that we'll see you soon at one of our virtual events.
