Grace, a young wiry-haired Jack Russel Terrier, arrived at NAWT in severe shock and terrible pain following a nasty attack from another dog. She was covered with several bite marks and puncture wounds, with the most severe one opening up her entire back from shoulder to shoulder.

Grace required emergency surgery if she was going to survive the attack and was immediately rushed to the vet. Thankfully, the vet was able to perform lifesaving surgery, which left her with many battle scars but a whole life ahead of her to enjoy.

Cherry was only 9 months old when she arrived at NAWT. A miniature Chihuahua crossed with a Yorkshire Terrier, she was a tiny little thing and super cute.

However, young Cherry had a problem; she was heavily pregnant with four extremely large puppies, in comparison to her size. There was absolutely no way Cherry or the puppies were going to survive the full pregnancy; it would have killed all five of them. Unfortunately, Cherry’s pregnancy had to be terminated in order to save at least one life.

Sonny the pony was born at the NAWT HULA centre in 1986 and for almost 33 years he happily grazed the fields, watching all the comings and goings at the centre, and spending time with his friends.

Anyone who has spent time at the HULA centre over the last three decades will associate the farm with a greeting from gentle Sonny, and many supporters would look forward to spending time with this lovely boy when they paid a visit to Glebe Farm.

If you were wondering which charity to choose for your upcoming fundraising event, have a read of some recent stories from our very own Rachel and James, who took part in long-distance runs to raise money for NAWT in October 2019.

First up was James, who started working for the charity in August this year as Marketing Assistant. He does the local Abbots Langley Tough Ten every year, where runners have to overcome steep hills as part of the 10k distance.
