Remembering our fallen animals with Purple Poppies

In Clacton, you will find a wonderful dog-walking group called Purple Pals. Not only do they organise dog-walking meetups (often, our Clacton residents who are looking for a new home enjoy coming along), they are fundraising at the same time!

On Sunday 10th November, the group have organised a sponsored dog walk, with a three or six-mile route available. If you’re interested in taking part, you can find out more about how to register on our events page or email the Clacton centre on clacton@nawt.org.uk

Would you like to get involved with fundraising through Purple Poppies? We know we have wonderful supporters who love to crochet and knit, and what is more fabulous than a scrap busting project that can help raise money at the same time? If you would like to lend your skills and get involved, you can donate knitted and crocheted flowers to your local centre, who can sell them to fundraise for the animals at the centre.

We have designed a knit and crochet flower pattern, and there are lots freely available online if you have a pattern you prefer.

All funds raised through Purple Poppies will go towards the homeless animals at each of our centres, ensuring they get the care they need whilst waiting for a new home. Wearing a Purple Poppy on Remembrance Day, alongside your Royal British Legion Poppy, will be as a mark of remembrance for all the fallen animals that have served during wartime.
