NAWT welcomes Government ban on third party puppy and kitten sales

Today is a great day for Animal Welfare and the NAWT is thrilled that the government has announced that they are committed to implementing Lucy’s Law to ban third party sales of puppies and kittens.

A ban will help bring an end to the horrendous practice of puppy farming and close down the dealers who buy puppies from these farms and sell them on to unsuspecting members of the public.

Welfare standards will be increased and the public will have a very clear understanding of where to buy well bred, healthy puppies and kittens.

A government consultation has been launched today to seek views on how to implement the ban. NAWT will be contributing and we encourage as many people as possible to have their say.

We offer huge congratulations to NAWT friend Marc Abraham who has fought tirelessly to bring about this ban and NAWT is a proud supporter of Lucy’s Law.
