Snowdrop was taken in by Tatty-Cats in October last year, and his condition was heart-breaking. Sadly, Snowdrop had cancer on his ears and an infection, as well as kidney and thyroid problems. He was filthy, covered in matted fur, riddled with fleas, and suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, and exhaustion. He could hardly even stand up on his own. Tatty-Cats did everything they could to manage his health and give him hope for a better future.
However, their vet advised it was too risky to operate, as it was likely the anaesthetic might advance the kidney disease and his life would have been shortened as a result. It was decided at that point to concentrate on getting him as fit as possible, and hope that the next set of bloods might tell a different and more optimistic story.
On January 3rd this year, NAWT's Berkshire centre agreed to take Snowdrop to allow Tatty-Cats the space to help other cats who urgently needed it. Thankfully, Snowdrop's health had improved so significantly that when his bloods were taken again, NAWT's vet was confident Snowdrop was well enough to cope with an anaesthetic. The timing of this fantastic news couldn't have been better, as despite his improving health, Snowdrop was struggling to eat as his teeth were so bad.
Whilst under NAWT's care, Snowdrop has now had the cancerous tips of his ears removed, the dental treatment he needed, and a thyroidectomy (surgical removal of the thyroid gland). He is doing well since his surgery, but still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
Snowdrop's surgery was an urgent necessity, but a costly one financially. We now need your help to cover these costs and to fund his ongoing care.
We have set up a JustGiving page to raise money for Snowdrop's care, please give anything you can to help this sweet boy:
With the support and generosity of people like you, Snowdrop will have a second chance at the life he deserves and a much brighter future. Thank you.
