Buddy the Boxer cross came into our Clacton centre in early 2017.
He arrived underweight, scared and confused. We never knew too much about Buddy’s past but it was clear that his previous experiences hadn’t been positive, leaving Buddy fearful of new people.
Despite this, he settled well into kennel life at NAWT Clacton and became a firm favourite amongst the staff.
Animal care assistant Stacey said: "Buddy is a true gentleman, he remained chilled out and a pleasure to care for throughout his time with us. He learnt a wide range of tricks and we worked hard on boosting his confidence with those things he found scary.
"We helped him see more of the big wide world and he loved his cuddles with the team. We could see the true Buddy and it was so frustrating for us all here that he had to wait so long in kennels for his deserving chance."
After a long twelve months, a patient family came along willing to offer Buddy the time and training he needed. Due to his fearfulness, introductions were slow but worth the wait.
Buddy has been in his new home a few months now and is enjoying doggy training sessions and meeting new dogs.
We're thrilled that we had the chance to rescue and re-home Buddy, if you would like to find a dog of your own, please click here.
