Bessie waited for three years to find her forever home but we never stopped caring

10-year-old Bessie spent three years waiting for her perfect forever home. We couldn’t pinpoint a specific reason for her long wait but unfortunately we do often find that older Staffordshire bull terriers can struggle to find their perfect match.

No one ever gave up hope of finding Bessie that home though and many of you followed her daily antics on her own dedicated Facebook page. It was clear that there would be a home out there for Bessie, we just had to be patient and use her time with us to train and prepare her for life in a new home.

Bessie excelled so much in her Open Paw training that she soon became somewhat of an ambassador for NAWT, attending educational visits to schools with the animal care team and helping to demonstrate basic training tips to visitors and supporters.

Bessie’s Open Paw training was also instrumental in helping her to feel comfortable in the presence of other dogs, which is something she found very overwhelming when she first arrived at NAWT.

In all her time with us, you never gave up hope of finding Bessie the loving home she deserved and thanks to your support she has spent the last year enjoying life with a home and a family to call her own. Thank you.
