Welcome to the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) website.

Founded in 1971 the Trust is now one of the top 10 animal rescue and re-homing charities in England, and runs 5 rescue & re-homing centres across the country. Our centres are located in Watford, Berkshire, Essex, Somerset and Cornwall. Our Watford centre is also the home of the Trust's small headquarters operation, where the central support functions covering finance, fundraising, human resources and administration are based                                                                                                  .

The Trust is Home to a surprisingly wide variety of animals primarily dogs and cats but farm animals, horses a nd donkeys, ducks, poultry and small domestic pets too, the Trust also provides short term care and rehabilitation for Wildlife.

An absolute rule of the Trust is
that no healthy animal is ever put to sleep

The Trust is a non-political and non-campaigning organisation, it simply concerns itself with looking after some of life's casualties. It receives no money from the government and relies entirely on voluntary contributions to carry out its work. We work closely with other like minded organisations and are an Executive and founding member of the Association of Dogs & Cats Home (www.ADCH.org.uk) which brings together over 50 animal welfare charities from across the UK.
