NAWT Cornwall - About us Cornish Animal Rescue (formerly Molly Wyatt's Dog Rescue) The Cornish Animal Rescue Centre is based in Hayle, with volunteers throughout Cornwall fundraising and home checking. The National Animal Welfare Trust receives no state aid and relies on the generosity of the general public to maintain its work. The Centre has recently moved into a brand new purpose built facility that has been developed with environmental sustainability at its heart. Incorporating a range of energy efficiency measures (such as low emissions/full condensing boiler; pes lighting; low energy lighting; high levels of thermal insulation and low energy under floor heating) and renewable technologies, including Harvested Rainwater; Wind Turbine; Solar Hot Water; Foul Treatment plant. The Centre provides a rescue and re-homing service for stray and abandoned dogs and cats across Cornwall, and has been designed to provide a stress free and welcoming environment for animals and humans alike. It provides 24 units of dog accommodation and 20 cat units, and will re-home over 300 animals every year. When developing the Centre we wanted to get the best possible balance between capital investment and low running costs, and also to demonstrate to our supporters (and the wider public) the importance of addressing environmental sustainability in our work as a way of maximising the value of the donations received and as part of our wider public benefit and responsibility as a charity.
Help and advice is always available on the welfare of a new pet and owners
are encouraged to keep in touch with the Trust. As the National Animal Welfare Trust never puts a healthy animal to sleep,
this makes caring for elderly animals even more important. They are often
overlooked by animal lovers looking to adopt a pet. Older cats and dogs
have a lot to offer as they are already used to family life and demand
little in return. Older dogs, for example, ask just to be loved, fed and
talked to, needing much less exercise than a younger animal, happy to
sleep the day away in a warm comfortable bed. If you are looking for a pet to join your family why not give an older dog or cat a chance? |
